TETANUS

TRUTH: Clostridium tetani, or tetanus as it is more commonly known is a spore found in soil, feces, and mouths of many animals. Contracting tetnus can come from something as minor as being scratched by rose thorn while working in your garden or getting your hand licked by your puppy after getting that pesky papercut at work. So now you're  asking yourself why more people don't get tetanus? It is because we as a country vaccinate against the disease. It is important that you get your vaccine for tetanus to avoid the awful effects that it can bring. What are those effects? They range from fever, high blood pressure, and sweating to respiratory failure, severely painful muscle spasms that can break bones, and even death.  Dont worry, you were probably vaccinated as a child and only need to keep up your booster every 10 years. If you do get an injury that could be contaminated and it has been more than 5 years, it is best to update your vaccine at that time. We are here for you and want you to remain healthy so if you cant remember your last tetanus vaccine or think it has been more than 10 years let us know and we will help get you protected.
